FAQ What's a serial novel? It's a novel that's published in multiple parts. Popularized in the 19th century, when many writers (including Charles Dickens and Arthur Conan Doyle) would publish their novels first as monthly or weekly installments in magazines. Though this style has fallen by the wayside, Stephen King published his novel The Green Mile in six installments; also, quite a bit of the more popular Fan Fiction is published in a serial format. Utopian fiction is the creation of an ideal world, or utopia, as the setting for a novel. Dystopian fiction is the opposite: creation of a nightmare world, or dystopia, where utopian ideals have been subverted. Many novels combine both, often as a metaphor for the different directions humanity can take in its choices, ending up with one of two possible futures. Both utopias and dystopias are commonly found in science fiction and other speculative fiction genres. (source: wikipedia) Does it cost anything to read the series?
Absolutely not! The Radical Chronicles may be read free of charge. If you like it, pass it along, tell a friend, get the word out! That's payment enough!
When does the serial update? The Radical Chronicles should be updated each Friday evening. Any delays should be noted ahead of time. How far in advance do you write chapters before posting them to the site for readers? Chapters are typically written the weekend prior to the Friday they are posted, and edited and rewritten the week leading up to their release. Any changes made to previous chapters are only to correct spelling/grammar mistakes initially missed. Since posting a chapter each week can be daunting even for full time writers, those (like Tim) who have outside daytime full time jobs tend to write anytime they have the opportunity, whether it's in the wee hours of the night or at lunch during the day at work. I'd like to review or comment on your serial novel. What's the process? Check out the Odds and Ends section of the site, or email Tim with your review (or the link to your review) and it will be featured. Snippets of reviews will have their own space on the front page eventually in future site changes.
